Meet the Board

Vacant – President

Duties – The president shall, subject to the direction and supervision of the board of directors, be the chief executive officer of the corporation and shall have general and active control of its affairs and business and general supervision of its officers, agents, and employees. The president shall have the authority to sign all contracts and other instruments on behalf of the corporation, except as the authority may be restricted by resolutions of the board of directors adopted from time to time. The president shall preside at meetings of the members and meetings of the Board of Directors and shall appoint committees. The president shall represent the corporation at public functions.

Vee Edstrom – Vice President

Duties – Vice president shall have the duties that the board of directors or the president may delegate to the vice-president from time to from time to time. In the absence of the president or his or her inability to act, the duties and powers of the office shall be performed and exercised by a vice president.

Derek Felix – Treasurer

Duties – The treasurer oversees the corporation’s funds and securities and ensures they are deposited in designated financial institutions as directed by the board of directors. The treasurer maintains accurate records of all financial transactions and provides financial statements to the board when requested. Additionally, the treasurer’s books are audited annually by a committee appointed by the President if such a committee is established that year.

Jim Pringle – Secretary

Jim is a long-standing member and supporter of the Mesa County Safety Council. Joining in 1996, Jim has been on the board of directors since 2004 and has held the position of Secretary since 2017. Jim was employed by the National Weather Service from 1977 to 2019, and has been a private weather consultant since 2019.  From 1995 to 2019, Jim was the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the Grand Junction NWS Forecast Office serving the people of eastern Utah and western Colorado.  The primary mission of the NWS is the provision of forecasts and warnings for the protection of life and property, an objective which is consistent with the Mesa County Safety Council’s mission to promote safety at work, home, and play.

Glenn Kiser – Past President

Glen has been involved with the Mesa County Safety Council since the mid 90’s. He maintains an intimate involvement as a valued ally and member of the Mesa County Safety Council.
